I downloaded the patch and ran the exec file. Still my version shows as v1.0. Any ideas on this?

Hi there and welcome to the Org mklangelo.
Interesting problem. Where did you get the patch? It ran to completion without any problems?
A quick test would be to start a campaign and at the strategy map, press the 'v' key to see if the trade route feature colour codes the sea areas.

Thanks Gregoshi,
I don't really care for the campaign game. I enjoy the historical battles to brush up and then I go online to play. The answer to your question is yes, the exec did run to completion. I can find the v1.1 euro-us installed in the original installation folder. The only problem is that when I go to the Total War Icon in that folder and right click on properties it invarialbly says v1.0.
PS. I do understand that this 1.2 patch is basically designed to fix multiplayer issues. Particullarly a server being seen by a client. When I have tried Multiplaying after the patch install, I can see games that were not visible to me prior to install. But there seems be a problem when I host as far as the game actually starting. Players choose factions and armys. I click start or ready and the game is crashed when I click OK.
stumped in Milwaukee.
:-)
PS. To Gregoshi: No, I don't remember where I dl'd the file from. I do think it was viable though I could be wrong. If I can't get it to run properly on my upcomming third attempt, I will ask you to tell me a more trusted site to get it from.
:-)
Okay, don't worry about properties, mine says version 1,0,0,0 too and I know I have the patch. When you launch the game and get to the main menu, there should be a version 1.1 indicated in the upper left(?) corner of the screen. I think you may be okay with the file you downloaded.
One thing to consider based on what you are saying: don't do any single player activities prior to going to MP. SP and MP have different stats and if it loads the SP stats first you will go online with SP stats. I don't recall what exactly happens when you have a mix SP and MP stats in the same game. If you play a SP game (don't know if historical and/or custom battle are included in this), exit the game and restart it before going online.
When you say crash do you mean to the desktop (game over) or the PC locks up?
Have you tried joining rather than hosting?
Do you have a firewall? They can interfer with hosting.
Did you have any problems with the game online pre-patch?
BTW, a search of the Apothecary might yield an anwer to your question.
