Here's how I spent yesterday evening playing the 'easy' Turk SP campaign - expert, conquest.

#1 - In the first couple years took Anatolia (nuetral) lost many troops during castle siege including my Sultan I rebuilt my new Sultan's forces and attacked the Golden Horde in Edessa. I defeated them easily. Next year 2500 mongols attacked Rum. I beat them with 600 troops, but my forces were weakened. Next year Byzantines and mongols attack me together. Rum is under siege. Egypt attacks and defeats my small garrison in Lesser Armenia. I burn Edessa and Anatolia and send all my troops to Rum. GH outnumbers me 2 to 1, but after my Turcoman and Siphis lure out some of their troops to their doom, the main GH army retreats, hmm. In the next few years, GH, Eqyptians and Byz all take turns attacking me in Rum. When my 300 battle worn troops in Rum are attacked by over 3200 enemy troops, I decide to throw in the towel.

    # 2 - I sit back and make allies, building up my troops (including a cannon so I can take keeps without such high losses) and trying to get the necessary bldgs to produce JHI. The Germans launch a crusade on Rum, all my allies break their alliance with me. The Germans (crusade), Egyptians and Byzantines all attack me at once and I am crushed in a few years.

#3 - I sit back and build up my forces, expecting to be attacked at any moment, but intending to strike the Eqyptians first if luck is with me. After some peaceful years go by, I attack the treacherous Egyptians in Antioch. Their garrison flees. I seige rather than assault because I have no cannon. Next year, Egypt attacks my Sultan's army of 600 men in Antioch with 2500 troops. I beat them in probably the best battle of my MTW gaming history. I lose about 250, I spread my other garrisons thin to rebuild my army in Antioch because I expect another attack (smaller I hoped). Next year Eqpyt attacks my 550 men with another 2500 I win again *pats self on back*. In the process I lose another 250 men (including a Prince). So now I have about 300 in Antioch, 250 in Lesser Armenia and 600 in Rum. At last, Antoich falls to my troops. The next year #$%&# Byzantines and Mongols decide to attack Rum...together. My 600 defenders face about 1800 combined troops. I have too many archers type units and not enough Saracens. The Prince's army makes a good showing, but after a pitched two-on-one battle my army is routed. I burn Antioch and move those troops to Lesser Armenia - planning to burn Lesser Armenia next and send everything I have into Rum. Next year I burn Lesser Armenia and send my Sultan with every troop and Mercenary I can find into Rum. about 1200 Byzantines are sieging Rum. I attack with about 800. A German Crusade on Rum arrives to help the Byzantines. (i had forgotten it was coming). The 1600 Germans (crack troops no less) and 1200 Byz spank my Sultan like a naughty child. I am through...

Well, I've never fought against so many two-on-ones. It was fun. Who says this game is easy

Bah, I wish I had a challenging campaign like that. I've only played the Turks a couple of times though, I'll give them a wizz sometime.

Oh brother, were you looking over my shoulder to write that? Playing as Mongols is HARD. I can see how the designers wanted us to play as Frenchmen, Englishmen, HRE or Spaniards. If you pick somebody else, you are asking for trouble, especially on expert And I always wanted to play with camels
