    Hi

This is the first time I post at this forum. I've been lurking for a week now...
I am still a newbie even though I have had the game for 6 months, haven't had the time to play it much, but now I'm on it.

When I was lurking I found a thread about a multiguide/strat guide in the jousting field. I just wanted to say that I really liked it, even though it isn't finished yet. It gave me loads of information and tips on how to play. I really look forward to see it evolving and maybe in time, when I start playing online and get better maybe I can contribute to it.
Maybe you can set it up in the entrance hall as a Strategy Guide even though it isn't finished? After all, it really helps to know all that information even in SP...

And I would like you to go in deeper with one thing. I have played som custom games with only 5000 florins against the CPU, and I would like to know the importance of Valor, Weapons and Armour upgrades in those circumstances...is it better to go with 10 units or 5 upgraded units??????

    thx

Hi methos. I'm glad you de-lurked so soon.

As for your suggestion, anyone can view the forums and reap the benefits of the information there as you have. I'm not sure that putting a second such topic here in the EH will further the subject. If any Junior Patron has something to contribute to the topic, the moderators can move any such contributions into the appropriate topic on behalf of the Junior Patron. Also, if the information gets too spread out then it loses its effectiveness as you have to hunt for the specific information you are looking for.

As for valour vs armour vs weapons upgrades, I believe there is a topic or two about that. If I recall, valour beats weapons and armour upgrades. Good weapons and armour don't do you much good if your men run as soon as combat begins.

As for your second question, in general, more units beats fewer, better units. With more units, you have extra units with which to flank the enemy and hit them from behind. Keep in mind a lot depends upon the skill level of the players too.

I'm sure others with much more ability will correct me where I'm wrong.

Pay close attention to the world in general: sending an army of peasants at the squad of roayl knights will not do you any good. Armor/weapon upgrades are better spend with buying more expensive units: not only you are getting better fighter, but usually better fighters with higher morale...

My suggestion would be try it out.....

I seem to remember 'when I used to play Shogun' doing loads of testing on unit values v costs

    For exampe Ashi v monks..

The same I would imagine would be true for MTW.
Compare the cost of a Royal Knight unit to say 3 units of spearmen, test it out and see who wins.....

Stats are good but some people play better with certain units, so it is a personal pref...

Personally I prefer quality over quantity... So my armies are usually small but have good units in.

One way I always add armor is to my missile troops. They start out front in the early missile phase of the battle. Extra armor can give them an edge.

valor is def the way to go, even more important, imo, is good communiciation with your team. if you can decide on a strategy before the battle, and if you're lucky enough to be able to stick with it, success comes easier. similarly, if the original strat doesn't go well, or as planned, keeping in contact throughout the battle will benefit you and your team mates.

Indeed valour is much more important than attack and armour, however it is also the more expensive. Sometimes you may find it cost-efficient to upgrade your units' weapons and armour if the units is elite or has good morale, in which case valour does not have as a dramatic an impression on your units.
