Guidance or Help!!!!

I now have the Game working on a differant computer, How I never have really played before, these are the things I have run into, I have picked the easiest level to start, but I always seem to run out of money building the things I need,do I neded to slow down on my agression, in the sense better troops easier victory, as well as the princess, the annoiting of a governor, I get my generals killed alot by assasins I guess some simple strategy tips are what I need, Please reember My situation is this I liive in Spain, and bought the Game here, although my Spanish is O.k. the translation gets lost in the book for me sometimes aso initial help is required. P.S.the Auto resolve means I lose alot of BAttles, and why are replacenets so slow in coming alway from the farthest corners of the map.

To stop your generals from being killed have at least an assassin per province. I also build the tower (2nd upgrade, as i dont remember the name right now) in each of them.

In helping u further, it would be nice to know which faction you are playing with.

Skim the Table of Contents under the Library section, it will answer most of the questions new players have – it helped me a great deal when I was getting started. Here are my top ten tips for getting started

(1) Don’t auto resolve – you aren’t going to learn anything by letting the computer determine the outcome of the battle. Auto-resolve only when you want to speed up the pace of a campaign
(2) As you are learning the game, attack with overwhelming force (a significantly larger army) which will allow you to make mistakes but still win the battle
(3) Have a balanced army that includes spear (anti-cavalry) sword (main battle) missile or skirmishers (to add variety) and cavalry (to kill or capture retreating enemy troops) until you get a feel for a particular factions strengths and weaknesses on the battlefield
(4) Identify the key provinces you what to control from either a geographical (a choke point that limits the number of enemy provinces that have access to your lands) or economic point of view. Gain control over these provinces early and then take a break from war to build your economy
(5) Understand where agricultural/building improvements give you the largest increase in income and don’t build improvements that only give you a small increase if your budget is tight. Choose certain provinces to specialize in a particular type of unit. Don’t try to build everything in every province. Find out what providences provide additional valor to units built there (Wales for Longbowmen; Mercia for Billman; Norway for Vikings etc…) and concentrate on building those units in that province.
(6) Trade is the way to increase your annual income. Build a fleet and identify which provinces have trade goods and build a trading post. Connect your provinces with those of other factions by having at least one ship in every sea space between to start trading. Understand that as you progress in the game and conquer the other factions, your trading income will fall so you can’t ignore other economic or agricultural improvements
(7) If you launch an attack on an island, you will lose that army for at least four years until you build a port that will allow the units to move off the island. Don’t use your King unless you are confident that his isolation from the empire will not cause rebellion (I learned this one the hard way)
(8) Use the shift key at the end of every turn to check on the loyalty of all your provinces. Small changes in the game can have a big impact on a particular province and if you don’t realize it and make adjustments (lower taxes, increase garrison troops) you may have to deal with rebellion in your empire at the most inconvenient time or place
(9) Develop your generals over time. If you have a brand new general with one or two stars give him a title that comes with an extra command star. Have him fight the majority of the battles in a particular area to gain experience and additional stars. Marry a princess to him to increase his loyalty and give him an additional title that adds command stars when it becomes available
(10) Marry your heirs as soon as possible, that way they won’t become King at age 60 and still be single without any time to develop heirs of their own

Es importante que escojas tu ejército bien. Necesitas balance.

¿Qué tanto sabes de los ejércitos? Puedes organizar tu ejército en cualquier manera que quieras. Nada mas levantas los soldados que hiciste y los pones encima de otros soldados. Hay limitaciones en qué tan grande puede ser cada ejército .

Yoko366: it's a deep game, so it takes time to learn. Don't autoresolve except on siege assaults (and maybe bridge assaults) - practice control on the battlefield with the tutorials, as that was the toughest thing for me with Shogun.

On the strategy map, pacing yourself is important - you need to find the right balance between aggression and investment. The long term, cheesy, key to victory is building up trade routes through a ship in every sea. Rapid conquest also works but is more risky. What to do depends partly on the faction - smaller factions (Denmark, Poland) have to break out early; larger ones (HRE, Byzantium) can exploit their provinces by building them up first.

Not sure what you were asking about governors and princesses - I hope you know how to assign them and marry them? Beyond that, there is little to them - give the governships to generals with high acumen except the provinces with +1 command bonuses - they should go to your best generals; the princesses can be useful to get alliances or just the loyalty of your generals.

I normally play the Spanish startingh ini the initial period, I have tried to marry of the princeses but just last night 5 differant countries turnrd me down and I do not know how to find a princees for the princes, I do not understand 1 point that was made which is I need and assasin to protect My general from assasins, ANd what was said in the one email basicly use each indivisual stae to create a certain role I.E on foe cavalry 1 lancers and so forth, evev on easy these battles are not easy and even when I was Oh yeah, for the catapalts and ballista you have to place prior to the start of the battle because you can not move it once it starts?

An assassin from your faction in a province that belongs to you will try and catch (kill) any enemy assassins that enter your province, thereby protecting your general. They call this Counterspying, i guess.
Its an indirect protection, but it works (9/10 times, anyway ).

O.K. HAve not made it to trade yet how to set it up is it only by sea or across land as well, when you right click on a province this is where it tells you if you have bonus defense points, how do i gain points for my troops, only through battle?

Yoko366: Trading facilities give you revenue for internal trade but it is pitiful - the big money comes from trading internationally by a sea route. For this, you need to build trading facilities and ports in coastal provinces with trade goods, then have an unbroked chain of your ships in seas that connect them with the same in foreign lands. Enemy ships stop trade and you can't trade with enemy lands or even rebels, IIRC.
Some provinces give you bonuses for units and these should be exploited, but otherwise, yes, you are right - they mainly gain valour from combat.
On your other points - assasins can protect you against enemy assasins, but I rely on the borderwatch tower buildings; and yes, other factions will often refuse to marry you and you can't move artillery (although catapults can pivot). Dedicating provinces to build particular types of units is a good idea - eg in a Polish game, I aimed for provinces dedicated to knights; siege machines; archers; spears; swords; light cav etc plus three just for pumping out ships.

Much as in `real life`...you need a warchest to pay for aggression. War burns money fast. I always work first on a solid economy that will later pay for war. Just remember that when you use ships for trade routes you must guard them because if the enemy puts ships in a sea area you cannot trade thru it.

One question before we start, what faction do you usually play as.....

Im going to assume you select Spain......

1/ One of the most important parts is creating a good income. There are a number of ways to do this. But basically fall into two categories
- Trade
- Farmland improvement

My initial suggestion would be build a number of farm land improvements almost straight away, this will give you a little boast to the economy. The next task should be to set up tading buildings, find your most tradable provinces, and set about building trade buildings.

As a quick income increaser, put a large army into your highest income province, and ramp the tax up to the highest it will go. The army should keep the local population from rebelling.....
