    Thumbs up

Indeed. A rating system for MP with all your stats, kills, losses, battle history would be very nice.

I agree with CBR. Stats are fine with me, and would be kind of fun to see, but more people are going to want to be in competitive games than I, and that will just cut down the amount of available games to join if you're looking for a specific type-friendly or competitive.

I'm for a stat system, but against a ranking system. I didnt play Shogun as long as some others, but the ranking system make some people do weird thing.
If people want a ranking, they could create a ladder, like there is in some others games. You register and commpete vs others register members.

There should be a rating system ONLY IF dropouts are counted as losses. Also, it should be a bit like the chess system in that it should count for more if you beat someone better than you vs. beating a noob (like me ) Also, only wins and losses should count. No kills, captures, or other crap like that.

Well this sounds good, except that a lot of older players would then refuse to play with newer players. This is not what we want. In theory, the best situation happens when the more knowledgable players teach the newer players, so we have many more MP people around to play with/against. If you make things competitive, or even change the ranking so more established players get less from playing newer players, then you'll get a foyer less willing to play new players/or train them. And also it will promote many more players to go undercover, and gain wins because of ignorance. Also not fun. I must say that recently I have been in many games with new players. I almost always find myself on the weak side by myself, with the newbie in the middle, thus isolating me basically from the rest of my allies. Well when this new player gets rushed and routed, and my army is vulnerable, and can only take on at THE MOST one and a half armies (sometimes not even a half army) then I am kind of in a pickle. In this situation, if it were competitive, then I wouldn't even think about playing the game. Thus, cutting down on the fun.

why dont CA just add a program in VI that counts ur mp kills to deaths and saves it on ur computer without them having to setup a stats server?

I like the idea of an MP rating system espcailly with stats.

Speaking of stats I would also like them for the single player game. At the end of GA or conqure campagine I would liek to see stats about how many abtteles faought, troops produced, buildings built etc..

Though I don't play MTW online, I can say out of experience that statistics usually creates a bad community and give poorer gameplay due to people being a lot more selfish-stat hungry.

Well I play Soldier of Fortune 2 (yeah yeah u all know that), and there is a stats system where you can record all your activities e.g:

    -kills by weapon
    -total kills
    -no of games
-players you played against, even the no of times a playa killed you can be recorded.

etc etc... I find this very useful and helpful to show me exactly what I am doing online. I'd love a similar system where a server or the game itself keeps a "Battle Log" of my activities. This would be neat.

I'd also like to see a ranking system, probably something along the lines of battle.net.

I do like the idea of friendly game (stats are hidden) though. I also think that disconnects should be kept in a seperate stat. You could then set filters to ignore anyone who has over 20% disconnects for example.

yea but makes the game me exciting how if there were stats like your wins and a ladder somewhere to see where you are.

    So we want:

    1. Player stats
    2. Player competition system/ladder

Untill now ladders have not improved Total War, it mostly ended up in ppl trying to mislead each other and use all kinds of tricks to get high up. I do like the idea of being able to see ur stats.

In another game I played, you'd have to register to say that you wanted to be part of the ladder first and then play on a separate server for ladder games.

I remember taking a look at the old STW ladder. It was pretty clear from looking at it for a while that some of the names were simply undercover names made simply to get onto the ladder, then never used again. By this I mean that there were maybe 4-5 games by that name, with good stats, so they made it onto the ladder. Then there were other names like some of Magy's (one of the ones that stood out) with a few thousand games played, even under multiple names. If the person is good enough to make it high on the ladder I doubt those 4-5 games were the only ones they played. A waste of time to do all that imo.

    Stats good though.

ok maybe not a ladder but stats as in.

    wins
    loses
    kills
    most used faction
    most played map

you get my drift but the wins and loses dont add up to a ladder

I agree with CBR and my clanm8's on this one. I like for them to keep stats but not a ranking system. People get weird and to edgy with rankings and stuff. It becomes less about fun and more about improving your rank.
