Thread: Choosing your weather...

I haven't experimented too much with this setup and so I haven't noticed, but when you are attacked by the AI, do you get to choose the weather you defend in, or is it only when you attack that you can choose the weather...or at least wait for certain weather. In one of my games I put together an army made of melee units only like HC, WM, YS and YC. Sometimes when attacking I will wait for a day with heavy rain especially if I am facing an archer heavy opponent. I was just curious if it was a viable option on defense too...or does the AI choose that.

In SP the ai chooses (it feels funny to put it this way) the conditions under which they attack.

In MP the attacker chooses also.

The defender never has the option.

As a defender you might not be able to choose the weather, but you can choose the terrain you'll fight on.If your faced by cav, especially mongol cav, fight in the woods.
If your opponent or the AI chooses to attack in winter the snow will tire out his cav quickly, another advantage for you, conversely, you should avoid that situation if you are the attacker..It is usually best to choose an army that is balanced between missile and melee troops, that way you can always have an option, using the weather, that will work for you.
