I have both the old STW and the new MI loaded on my system, and I have an active single player campaign going in both. Although I like a lot of things about the new version, the old version still feels more comfortable. It certainly runs smoother and is much more stable. I sometimes wish that I could mix the two games and create a third version that would have only the features that I like.

I know you are saying to yourself, "He'd probably complain if they hung him with a new rope", but I'm just curious if I am the only weird one out there doing this.

Yeah, I have both STW and MI installed, and yes I prefer STW feel, but the new units in MI are real cool too. I think somewhere in the tech dojo there are threads that mentioned about tuning MI to your liking, but that's good only for single player games. I'm still waiting for the MI patch.. b4 I start my rampage online again!

I would love to do this, but how?
When you load on MI it overwrites the original STW and makes the old disc unusable, so how do you overcome that?

All you have to do is rename Your Total War folder, which contains the game folder, something like Total War 1 or Total War ME according to which game you have loaded first, and then install the other game. It will create a new "Total War" folder. Then load which ever game disk you want to play. The correct load/start panel will come up, or you can click the correct desktop icon if you a have auto detect disabled.

OR the 2nd alternative which is probably even easier:

When you start to install the second version, the installation program will create a folder address, and then ask you if this created address is OK. You have the option to change this address, so you could create your new folder at this point for the alternate version.

No no, just let the old game over-write MI. Then, take the MI disk and put it back in the box, the next part is a little tricky... Take the MI box and put it back on the shelf and leave it to gather dust until you realise you've got half-a-dozen useless games and you could go to the pawn shop and at least get a couple of quid for them.
