Better graphics in software mode???

Hi all,

yesterday i set the video driver to "software mode" - just for fun and to see what would happen. I was puzzled.
Although the game was now too slow to play
the graphics seemed - better!!
And the dialog box (regular transparent)
had now a wooden pattern!? How can this be ?

Everybody has his own taste I guess. The wooden box is there to make it look a decent closed box. Transparency is only supported in hardware mode.

If you have a decent 3d-card, go for hardware mode.

Some guys with TNT2 or better get ugly stuff, weird screens etc.
