Not counting Owari - that has 2 bridges - how many archer units are needed to keep a full enemy army from crossing a bridge? In the original STW, 5 archer units would stop any bridge crosser except for maybe heavy cav. Now - 5 doesn't even come close as the bridge is wider and the units can cross much quicker. Anyone have any ideas?
I am testing an idea of using 14 archers in "thick" formation as suggested by Kahn7 to hold a bridge - if I can get a huge army to attack I will let you all know the results.

i've done it with 4 archer units (positioned for a crossfire as the enemy crosses over) but honor 0 won't do the job. your archers must be above that in honor, and every improvement after that makes it that much easier.
the enemy runs across, forms up just on the defender's bank, and is promptly eliminated as they're marching and lining up. if they're well armored, they'll at least rout, clogging up following units and making for a very high kill-ratio. just keep an eye on your ammo.

Archers such in bridge defending. They are good when units like monks and nd try to cross but for other highly armoured units choose muskets mate.
