Thread: Make them run away!!!

I have found a really MEAN way to beat the AI - ever face one of those HUGE 5k+ enemy armies? Well - I found a way to beat em with under 400 men LOL - without a single loss! Of course - I don't get to kill anyone either. Here is what ya do - set up an army with one archer - the general - 2 yari cav's and 13 BN units. Invade at will - as soon as battle starts your ninja are concealed - even on open ground. Move your ninja so they all become visible - then stop them so they are invisible. Run your yari cav into the nearest thick woods and stop them - they will conceal. All of a sudden your enemy will stop - and think that the entire army of yours is now EVERYWHERE - they act as if they are surrounded! - The AI can only see one unit - your archers - and fears a massive yari cav/ninja attack - they MARCH QUICKLY to their edge and rout off - enemy reinforcements come in - move your men after they form up = and then stop them again - away they run! Rinse and repeat!
    ROFL!!!
Its silly, childish, and not much fun after the first few times - but it is doable - may be something to look into.

This is like one of those things when you just think 'who on earth tried this in the first place, who sat down and thought this one up?' Although I do agree, something should probably be done.

i tried it a few times, in custom battle mode (where else are you gonna get 13 bn units?) and it doesn't work if the koku per army is even.
this looks like just a theory/idea that has been posted as a rule of thumb. sorry.

This always happens to me when the AI has an inferior army. He just moves back and routs off...

Morale bug...this used to happen only on the strategy map not on custom.

    soly,

this sounds like EXACTLY what happened on those two maps you mentioned in the other thread about the dueling castles map and the emperor's home map.

Did not get a chance to test it in Custom yesterday - but as to where the Idea came from I can tell ya - my thoughts where that the AI comes after you if it sees that you have an inferior army. The army I described is 336 men - and I figured I could take it against a larger group and do good. The thought was this - the ninja would be hidden at the start - hide the yari cav to one side - when they approach the archer, have him start to pepper them - then charge from the side with BN and the rear with Yari Cav - but to do it all the other 15 units had to be hidden.

That idea didnt work - you see the outcome I got instead. After thinking about it - it may be that the AI does not look at manpower - but rather looks at unit worth to decide whether or not to flee. That would explain why it runs since BN are worth a lot even with only 12 men.

The problem there is - if that is the case - how come I have seen the AI attack me with 2 yari ashigaru units when I have a SA and a YC? The math there says already that they are outclassed. So I dunno - anyone got any input on that one?
