When playing online (which i'll start with when i get cable in 3 weeks),isn't it always better to be defensive? you can setup nice ambushes ,your army doest tire out and you can take the high ground...

Don't camp on high hills. Why you want an easy game? Get down to flat maps and everyone sees why you're good...

you'll also have an easier time getting opponents on maps that aren't totally disadvantageous for attackers (if you're defender).

It's a very good idea to remain defensive minded, since you are just starting to play online. It is, of course, better to make the attacker march, and get fatigued. There is a great deal of difference, in the degree of difficulty, between manuevering an army, and holding a strong defensive position.

You should continue to practice defending, with these advantages, as long as you are unable to defend yourself. Many people are just fine with trying to overcome any advantage you may have.

Many of the best attacks contain an element of surprise. One of the classic tactical manuever's is attacking from defensive positions.
