My problem, I have marched across most of the map eliminated many catholic factions (still getting the odd rebellion with some guy trying establish himself again).

Basically I have the Italians and Sicillians contained and the Hungarians are my allies, everyone else is currently eliminated awaiting establishment again.

For some reason no matter what side I approach I always get turned down (and all those years of inbreeding are starting to tell on my leaders V&V). Is there any way I can make them accept my offer?

I guess I must be too powerful and the AI just doesn't want me to get my way anymore

well yeah you are too powerfull but someone found a way round it. He found that before your oldest heir matures put in a marriage proposal and they will accept getting him married

I can't remember when I've offered one of my princesses and had the offer accepted. I don't make this one of the things that is a priority, so maybe I'm not being very consistent about using the princesses. I know they can be good as spies. And I know about all of the other stuff related to elimination of a faction results in me getting some of their territory. All in theory, of course. I haven't been able to take advantage of all of this, since they seem to be unwanted. Does anyone know how to increase the potential of marrying these women off?

    May kitso.

Yes, later in the game the AI seems to go agains all your actions just for the principle of opposing the human player... I guess that we have to live with that. However, I have not seen a situation when my single king would not chicken out and marry somebody from his own court, so staying single is not an option here

True staying single isn't an option for a king (great to be king isn't it, having your pick of any woman in the country). But all that inbreeding creates those negative vices and virtues.

Anyway I did finally manage to get the Byzantine princess to marry into the family (so the prince at least got a decent woman). The funny thing was the Byzantines remained my enemies even after the marriage (Funny we didn't fight each other for years beforehand when I sent crusades after them) And I thought that Marriage was meant to produce an alliance at the end of it (fat chance of that)

Marriage is seen as a means to an ends. So if you are friends it does not bring an alliance.

If you are at war it may bring a peace.

So if you have a history of making peace after marriage you will find that people who are at war with you will be far easier to get married to... it may just be the war bit and the history is not logged.

What is all this wanting to get married???

Do none of you realise how expensive women are

Drink beer, watch football, get friendly with the ladies
    but do not get married

Do none of you realise how expensive women are
and it's not just the things you can see,
shoes, jewellry, shoes, presents, shoes, roses, shoes, movies, shoes, dinners, shoes, fancy clothes, shoes, etc. etc.
    it's the little things,

    take groceries for example,
my significant other is away on university prac at the moment and i am forced to fend for myself, (a month of bliss doing guy stuff, about to abruptly end)
so off i go to the shops, shell out $25 and i have enough food for a week,
i have half a dozen eggs, bread, milk, coffee, sugar, jam, peanut butter, mushrooms, capsicum, some choccy bickies, noodles and pasta.
Enough to feed me for more than a week actually,
    :)

but when my other half gets home the grocery bill is going to climb into the 80's again, and nothing i can do will deter her...
10 different kinds of vege's (half of which never see the inside of a pot or pan),
5 different cuts of meat, unnecessary - i've lived almost my entire life without meat (love the steak, can't be bothered having to cook it),
a dozen different sauce mixes (just in case),
pasta and sauce packs (just in case),
flavourings, spices, bits and bobs, dibs and dabs...
a hefty trolley load, most of which winds up bulking up the emergency stash, (for cyclone season), or feeding the seagulls at the local dump...

women have no idea, you eat all the food in the house until it is gone, THEN, and ONLY then, you go to the store and get some more...

and SHOES, they love their shoes,
    - i have 6 pairs of shoes, daily use sandshoes, going out sandshoes, work sandshoes, work boots, dress shoes, dress boots,
    - she has over 30 pairs - (i'd go and count them, but i'm afraid of having a heart attack if i do) - PLUS a stash (qunatity unknown) up at her parents place for when she goes out to dinner with mum and dad..)

and clothes, i'm NOT going there, honestly there are three wardrobes for her clothes, and one for mine (and mine's half empty...)

In short women are expen$ive, stay single, conquer the world if you must, but stay single...

I didn't realize that it is considered inbreeding when the faction leader marries the daughter of a local aristocrat. No wonder all of my princes have the Inbred vice.

Barocca forgot the ultimate, most gut wrenching expense:

Not seeing your son for 3 months because her new boyfriend (who punched her out so bad last winter she spent 2 nights in hospital) doesn't like you, watching her flout a court order the whole time, and then having to pay 10 grand just to make sure your own child knows how much you love him, and make sure your x and her new love are looking after the one person you love the most in the world.

It's a lot worse than the shoe expenses of the lady I now associate with. And yes, she let's me play MTW- she bought it for me...
And on a brighter note, the judge freaked out at x on Tuesday and I see my boy this evening for the first time since February 22 and informed her she'd lose him if any more chicanery went on. I just can't wait to see the psy-ops my poor little boy has been exposed to... (sorry guys, I just had to vent a bit...)
I want flying units and faction specific footwear in RTW.

Sure Aurelius, that's what we all are here for. Listening to you is much better than listening to Gregoshi complaing about his MP skills...

If you will be organising an Emergency Recovery Squad, just let us know here, OK ?

It's not. At least I don't think so. You get the inbreeding vice by marrying one of your princesses to one of your princes.

When you own half the world, you have trouble finding a wife. When you find a wife, you have trouble owning half a room.

    Louis,

Girls on this forum it is a joke, I don't believe it. Or if I do, I don't acknowledge it

Speaking of women, I really stink at MP...

Aurelius1, I hope the situation with your son turns out for the best. Enjoy your evening with him.

I've noticed one thing that isn't quite accurate. What about a harem for the Muslim rulers? Heirs would result from the first wife, but there should be pretty good generals being created from the other wives. Then you could be getting 10 or more notices about First wife gives birth to son or Second wife gives birth to daughter.
