Here is my situation: I have earned about $500 at a part-time, minimum-wage job as a waiter on weekends (school during the week). Over the summer I stand to make around $2,000 at a different job. In about six months I'm looking at buying a car. My parents, feeling more flexible than usual, have promised to match whatever money I put toward this car.

I can't wait until Viking Invasion comes out, and I don't mind spending $40 ($30 for the game and $10 for one-day air) to get it the first day it ships, even though I have recently spent around $250 on games, clothes, and the like. The way I figure it is that there aren't any more games coming out in the near or distant future that I want, so I don't figure to be spending any more in that department.

Therein lies the problem: do I save the money for the car or spend it on VI?

Depends on how will you use it: A movie with a (girl)friend will cost you $20 minimum, and it lasts couple of hours tops. For a $30 you can get a popcorn with that, and maybe some flowers... With the VI, I plan to spend a lot time together, much more than this $30 can get you anywhere... So when you divide the money by the time, it is the most entertainment your money can buy...

Besides, $30 will not get you a lot of a bigger or better car... I would get the VI, and then skip pizza couple of times

PS. I would not pay $10 for the shipping, just go to a local store and get it yourself... I buy most my games when they are 50% off due to their age (I buy games 5-7 months old from the bargain bin. This way you know if something is a lemon or not...)

LOL just buy VI you'll be fine In my ever advancing years I look on games as a way of stopping me going to the pub. As such they save me large amounts in lost money and improve my health too. VI will most proably cost 1/2 what a full price game costs and provide hours of entertainment. In the grand scheme of things MTW - VI will cost at most 3 hours of work, and save at least that in pub time

Good luck with the driving BTW don't do anything I wouldn't

Get the game. Buying it will only delay getting a car by a week or two. If you wait until after you get the car six months from now, you'll never get VI. This is because once you have the car, the expenses are just beginning. There is this needle-thingy on the dash board that if it drops below a certain mark, the car stops running. To prevent this you need to run to a gas/petrol station and pump gallons/litres of very expensive gas/petrol into the beast at regular intervals. And we haven't even talked insurance (if it applies to you), maintenance and repairs.

Give all your money to your girlfriend & ask her to help you decide. Sets a pattern for later in life. And you'll probably get lucky sooner.

Tell your folks you did that. Dad will understand.

it sounds like this is going to be your first car. So spend the money on VI 2 reasons: 1 => it will keep you off the road. 2 => Chances are you will crash this car within the first year (sorry, but it's true), so the less money you spend the better. (buy a honda, this way it wont brake on you)

Give it to a more charitable cause...

Buy a game for someone who has never experienced MTW.

    Nah buy the game

Might be better not to literally throw them out your window, I'd put them in your neighbours rubbish bin if I were you.
