Be wary of opening emails with game titles as subjects (for example: Battlefield 1942.exe) for the next few days, fellas. A W32 worm varient is on the loose:

    Thanks for the tip

Also, be wary of the hoax regarding a file on your harddrive in the System32 folder in your Windows directory. There is a java-related file called jdbgmgr.exe. It is a valid part of Windows and not related to a virus.

    Heads Up

That one got me a few months ago, I'm ashamed to say, and I deleted the file. However, oddly enough, I haven't suffered any adverse effects. What is deleting the .DLL supposed to do?

can't be sure, but I think it has to do w/javascript editing or something of the sort (I was told exactly what it was months ago, but I have a seive for a brain when it comes to remebering details...) Essentially, only people using a specific tool (again, I think it has to do w/writing/editing java) would be affected so most non-power users woiuld not even see an issue.

found an exact answer from Mr Niceguys link:

If a user has Visual J++ 1.x installed but JDBGMGR.EXE is missing, the net result would be that some Java programs wouldn't run. In all other cases, there would be no effect from deleting the file.

My father fell to that one some months ago. But nothing happened and the file restored itself rather soon, probably it automaticaally domnloaded itself from the microsoft homepage or something, that is one great part about the windiws systemst, they repair and uppgrade themselfes without me vene bothering.

Thanks. I don't use Java, so I guess I'm lucky.
