Thread: Napoleonic MOD help

    Theres a great napoleonic mod on TheLordz website (http://www.thelordz.co.uk/) im using the v1.6 and i need some help. Theres a unit called CannonBatt and i cant see how you are supposed to use it. Its artillery so i assumed it shot. But i was wrong. All it manges to do is make a litte cart thing smash into the enemy, dieing instantly. It looks cool, but i think thats theres more to it than that(i hope) if anyone could help me that would be great.

    the CannonBatt unit is movable artillery in order for it to fire you have to be within range, The crosshairs will turn from red to green indicating target is within range if not when you point and click the Cannon changes into a horse drawn Cannon and moves where you indicate by point and clicking. This movable artillery was thought impossible in MTW and is a first, So remember position first wait for crosshair to turn green before firing and you can move at anytime during a battle

    I checked, but it doesn't have the crosshairs. All it has is the sword (for charging). Am i doing something wrong?

    One more thing these are Unit Betas only the Mod campaign as a whole is still being done. We are waiting on the Viking expansion pack to help facilitate the completion of this Mod . When all the work is done it will be released,until then enjoy the Unit Betas and keep the feedback coming we appreciate your help.

    Psyco, I just play tested a variety of CannonBatt scenarios yesterday after reading your first post. I must say what your experiencing is puzzling. The CannonBatt unit like I stated is movable artillery that when positoned to fire will show red crosshairs then when the opposing unit is in range it will turn green, you can also point and click on the battlefield in order to re-position the unit I did notice if out of range and you point and click it will move to the point clicked on. Other than that I cant expalin whats going on. I will try somemore test today and see if I cant comeup with something for you. Can you explain in more detail exactly the scenario and what you are doing with the Unit?

    I'm doing a custom battle and I've tried all the teams, but it doesn't work for any of them. I deployed it like a normal artillery unit, but it can't move. The only thing I can get it to do is charge the enemy, (i cant move it, it shows the red movement icon thing)

    OK Pysco , I have done another custom battle of my own 6 Cannon Batt units on each side Almos vs Danes nothing special set up wise map was acre again nothing special. I started off by not choosing a deployment formation and positioning the units myself just click on the unit then point to a spot you want them to move then click . When they reach their objective and positon to fire again click on the unit then point at an opposing unit you should have a red or green crosshair ( Under any condition I tried I saw no Sword } red you are out of range and green you can fire thats it quite simply. The animation itself while stationary shows 2 cannons and 2 crews of 2 men each, when moving the animation changes and you see 2 cannons being drawn by 2 horses, even if one cannon in the unit is destroyed the other still fights. I cannot figure out why you are having trouble. Maybe when LK gets back he can shed some light on this. PS. I have some screenies of the battle I will post when I get a chance to upload them.

    mine only have one cannon. maybe thats the problem. The one thing i noticed is that yours are grouped. do they have to be?

    No the grouping has no effect on the animation . I just did that to get more of them in the screenshot. I cannot see how if you are choosing the CannonBatt unit you could only see 1 cannon ? Are you sure you have the right unit ? P.S. Edit dopey me my unit size was not on the normal setting my apologies for the confusion. Thanks to Uglyryu for straightening that out.

    I noticed that they came with a demi-cannon. Are they supposed to?
    Another thing I noticed is that mine only looked like the ones on the screenshot when the were parked next to the demi-cannon, otherwise they were just a horse pulling a cannon.

    Psyco,

    I'm guessing the reason your only seeing one cannon is you don't have the mega large unit sizes on. I was only seeing one cannon also until I changed the unit size to the largest setting and, Voila Two cannons in the battery.

    As to why your not seeing the crosshairs..do you see the crosshairs for your infantry when you put the cursor over an enemy unit. If not I'd say there is something messed up with your install of the Nap mod.

    When i put the curser over the enemy it changges into a sword, so i think i'll just re-install the MOD

    Pysco, thanks to Uglryu for pointing out the unit setting. I did not realize mine was not set at normal hence my 2 cannons, well I feel like a dope Lets hope the new install straightens things out

    No problem Pysco I might have confused more then help you. The CannonBatt was LK's design and until recently I have not had much opportunity to play test it myself, I think I spend so much time modding files I forget to actually play the game. Which I thoroughly enjoy to do since I started working on Mods it has opened up the game to me and made it alot more fun , and with the expansion pack it is going to give us alot more possibilities as far as mods go.So alot more interesting stuff to come.
