The summary: Concentrated and furious expansion for the best strategy game of all time. We thank you.

(The article is of course copyright, so don't nobody scan it in and post it up, you hear?)

Gil, at what point are you folks at CA grinning from ear to ear knowing you have a hit game on your hands? Is it when the first reviews come in? The sales figures? Gushing love letters from adoring fans? Glowing reviews in posts the TW forums?

I'm just curious if there is a point in time when you get an emotional payoff (Yes We nailed it) for your months of effort.

Yeah Mission Packs are never rated very highly... Just shows how cynnical reviewers are about add-ons

Varies between people and projects and companies...

I guess it's when the reviews start appearing (and 86% is indeed a bloody good score for an add-on) that everyone here starts to be really happy.

When my first game was published it hit me at the moment when I saw it playing on a big screen in a shop.

For Medieval we broke out the champagne the day after it shipped, but we were already working on the patch and the expansion, and our triumph was a long-lasting pleasure enjoyed over the course of some months. I still wear a big smile whenever I see a Top Ten PC Games display featuring Medieval in a shop. (If Medieval isn't in the Top Ten display, I frown, find a copy and switch it for whatever's at number one, then smile.)

For Vikings, everyone who was working on it is now on something else, or was already multitasking, and for some people it's the fourth Total War product release, so the triumph is starting to become exhausting :) However, I imagine it still feels good.

    Arrow

Gamestar.de the unheard of Games magazine from Germany gave it 87% if I remember correctly.

Good Job CA. Enjoy your success fully.

Well done. I have it preordered so I believe I should get it tomorrow or Friday (or Saturday if it is slow).

    Good job guys

I bought PC Gamer UK monthly for three years now and 86% is a very high mark for an add-on which basically presents the same formula as the original release.

May R:TW place the TW series on the top spot again

    Thumbs up

And may the Total War series continue to rejuvenate itself, after RTW.

Yeah, I might have to get Viking Invasion when I get home from school (two days&#33. But I'm kinda torn between that and Morrowind and I don't really have enough extra money to buy them both.

Woohoo 2 days to go.. er, okay a bit longer for me as it takes a while for Play.com to send the stuff out but.. woohoo

And sgtAndrew.. I'm addicted to Morrowind at the moment - what a class game, _very_ addictive and huge - but I'm sure I'll be able to take some time out for VI.

And with Vice City out the week after... sheesh, I should've booked the next few weeks off work Or months...

I find Morrowind vastly too big, confusing and time-consuming. Plus it runs at about 10fps. VI and MTW are much better.

I heard there is a 16-page preview of Half-Life 2, so it's well worth it

I'll admit to going into stores and rearranging the shelves for maximum exposure for my product. Muahahahahaha That's kind of a minor buzz-ette, which would be a small buzz...

    Do it Mike

Sorry I was wrong about Gamestar.de, they give it 88% not 87%. Everything gets 100 except multiplayer and graphics which get 80% & 40% respectively. So there you have it in a nutshell:

-Improved multiplayer (including MP campaign, and custom unit flags)
    -Improved grahix

We await your next masterpiece in the form of ROME TOTAL WAR

Yeah, and Ian Roxborough who wrote the review now works for CA - go figure, and PC Gamer have got the biggest TW scoops ever since.

Tho to be fair, both PC Zone and PC Gamer (UK) adore the TW series and have always given them high-scores.
