If you put your king in a crusade and keep it stocked up with troops youre king becomes immortal, my current king Stephen is 141 years old, and his oldest son is 80.

I wonder if the son would die before his father? Maybe its a rule, where the son cant die first, except in battle.

    Vices & Virtues:

geezer: This old fart can't do anything for himself anymore except complain. +5 acumen as he demands a senior discount on everything he buys. -50% happiness since he complains about everything he buys.

    Nice one...

crotchity: due to his extreme age, he is always pissed off at anyone around him aside from himself. +1 command when attacking and +5 if the opposing army is technologically superior. As well, the opposing army loses 2 valor due to the screams of 'We didn't have no newfangled pistols back in my day

May I suggest the following addition to crotchity?

Is unable to command any units of a tech level higher than Urban Militia. High tech units simply stand immobile on the battle field. In my day...

The application for this would appear to be to keep your king alive if he has no heirs or if his heir is still underage when he is in serious danger of keeling over. Catholic kings who have kids when they are 70 now have a means by which to stay alive long enough to ensure that the dynasty (and game) continue.
The surest way to lose the respect of one's peers is to take a stand on principle...alone.

    Talking

If not funny, please cut out:

Poor perception: due to the changes in his vision, the fog of war never disappears for a senior general. As a result, enemy units standing motionless and in complete silence appear to be concealed, as if standing in a heavy forest. The only way to detect them is to force them to move or engage. (Missile weapons are useless, engage threshold and charge distance are reduced by 50%).
