I’m due to finish reading my latest book “Playing tennis with the Moldovans” sometime today. Next up is either “Churchill” by Roy Jenkins or “A history of Britain, volume III” by Simon Schama. Only problem is, I can’t decide which to read next - more so as they cover much the same ground history wise. So I’m taking a straw poll.

I would recommend any Bernard Cornwall book whether it be Sharpe or His Grail Quest novels or the one i'm reading at the moment, Weaveworld by Clive Barker.

Im sorry your character got killed off at the end of the first book in the Grail series.
I have 60 pages of the second one left to read, then I must decide what to read next.

Teutonic Knight - too late, I started Churchill today. I can honestly say I have never learnt as much from reading the introduction to a book as I did from this one. I am now an expert on the workings of English parliamentary democracy, due to a glossary of terms provided, ostensibly, for the American reader Do you know what a privvy councilor is? I do now

Shadeswolf-if you want an excellent book read Stephen Lawheads Celtic Crusade trilogy-The Iron Lance,Black Rood and the Mystic Rose.,set in the times of the 1st crusade to the late 12th century,fantastic read.
I think it is a Privy Councillor.
I know what it is exactly in denmark: Gehejmeråd or Gehejmekonseilet (notice that konseilet has paralles to the english council). Hence I believe that it is the same thing, namely a member of the highest royal council in the specific nation, am I right so far?
In denmark at least, the period of Gehejmekonseilet was between 1670-1770 roughly, maybe longer in UK since they are a tad more conservative regarding their monarchy etc.
