    Unhappy

Ok, I just quit my second campaign after reinstalling VI on my computer.

Last week, I installed the new VI and was very happy with it. On the weekend I wanted to try the old campaign as English, and something was not ok. I couldnt build many units, no longbows, no xbows, no special units and so on. Some upgrade buildings simply didnt work- especially the bowyer. Tonight I started for the Italians and the same problem again- I can only build bowmen, no bowyer upgrade work. This is only when I start off early, tried the late campaign and it seems to work when the buildings are already there.

Do I miss something or what?

    Thanks in advance

Before the install of VI did you use the patch? Because this sounds like the balance thingies that where looked after in the first patch. I reckon VI also incorporates the patch as well so some things have propably changed, like being able to build longbows and x-bows in the early campaign (this 1 from memory so correct me if I am wrong).
    Anyone has any other ideas?

Well, the first installation had the latest patch for MTW. Now I tried the CD V1.0 version and patching it directly with VI- no success. Cant build any bow units- only normal bowmen. What a crap.

Hmmm, have you tried any of the later campaigns? Same behaviour there?

If I remeber correctly, bows are available in Early, High and Late; Longbowmen and Crossbowmen are only available in High and Late; and Arbalasts are available in Late only.

Base on what you've said, I assume that you already know that all units have proper period restriction in v1.1 and also you already try with a fresh installation, but the original campaign still doesn't work properly. Well, I can't help, since I don't have VI yet. I'm spamming here.

    Anyway, Zort

Welcome aboard Zort. I think these other gentlemen are on the right track, so fear not for MTW.

I can confirm that you can't build Longbowmen in the early period - it's part of the patched game, nothing wrong with your system/installation.

    Thanks for your help guys,

I was playing the 1.0 version too long i guess

It really depends on the time when you can build these units, not only on the buildings.

I cant remeber where I saw this but you have to have the v1.1. patch installed before attempting to install VI it WILL NOT WORK THE OTHER WAY AROUND AFTER YOU INSTALL mtw then patch v 1.1 then VI will bring your version up to 2.0 if you do it out of sequence that could be a problem ( now where did I see that )
