With this continous battle map thing...how will battles end? i don't want my army routing across the entire world. and I don't think the battles will be last man standing.

If the enemy's army is routing and there is a certain distance between your army and his I think the battle ends.
The map does end, it will be a central map and four others around. Much bigger, of course, but the map does end
Yes. The map will be continous- you wont have a blue screen at the end of the terrain you fought on. But I think you will have an invisble line between the terrain you are on and the next one. Once the enemy crosses that line the battle ends, and you will go back on the campaign map. I suppose then the enemy will automatically rally. I find that a pretty good idea, because its fairly logical.
