    Wink

As some of you (or most) may know is that a large part of the Netherlands lie below sea level. By creating polders the map of my country has changed a lot since the dark ages.
CA however used a modern map for VI. Some parts of the land you see now were just finished in the 1960's.
Not that it really matters, just made me smile.

yeah I know, and it isn't the only change CA made to the map.

IE east of Valencia there should be a group of 3 islands. the biggest one is called Mallorca IIRC and is considerable big (I think about the same size as cypres) but they arent in the game while much smaler islands like Malta and Rodos are.
    anybody knows why?

p.s. altijd leuk om een nederlander te zien op dit forum, woon je in het westland? doei

translation: always nice to see a dutch on this forum. do you live in the westland? bye

I was surprised when the islands east of spain where not included in the game.

I think there were two reasons behind not including them in MTW.

First, while important, they were not as large a part of history as Rhodes. If I recall Rhodes and Malta both played roles in the crusades at one point or another. They were also part of the Catholic/Orthodox/Muslim struggles.

If I recall correctly weren't the western medditeranean islands held by muslim forces and not seriously contested by spain till after the game timeframe?

Second, the map gets pretty confusing as it is. When MTW came out there were lots of threads wondering why they could not invade malta or rhodes. Not realizing that their blown-up pictures were linked to a smaller plot in a different sea.

Just to help lower the confusion they probably removed those islands. The Baleric Islands?
