Can retraining be done in the first Shogun Total War, i mean the one without the Mongol Invasion ?
If it can be done, issit the same procedure as the one mentioned in this forum ?
If not, well i guess thats too bad.

I don't think so as I think I would probably have asked how to do it before I got MI. As it was it was just after I got MI that I noticed and asked what was going on. Either that or I'm not very observent

Retraining is not possible in STW - however, when u have damaged or understrength units - you can combine them if they are the same type and would not exceed the maximum number of men per unit after combination. This does not allow for retraining per se - but can keep veteren units alive by merging them. Or it can provide some boost to fresh, low honor damaged troops.

There are some ways to combine units in old STW to your advantage:

    1) Free update: basically the honor is counted on soldier by soldier basis, while weapon/armor/moral is counted on unit by unit basis.

So if you drop a unit of 30 plain old YS onto another unit of 30 YS with 3weapon/3armor, you end up with 30 men, each equiped to the teeth.

    2) The combined unit size can't exceed the maximum unit size. But suppose you have two 31 men unit, you can go to options, and change the default unit size to a bigger number (100, or 120), go back and merge, you end up with a unit of 62 men. Then you can set the default size back to 60.

Or you can combine the 31's and end up with a 60 and a 2. You're bound to find another unit somewhere that they can be added in or if not it won't be long.
