Well ... Go ahead ...
The Hungarians are the only ones that I would actually call a faction...

Aragonese, taking both velencia and Navarere(sp?) then waging war on the spanish and almohads, all the while holding back the french is a task to behold.
the Aragonese - you have enemies all around you and it is hard to get a foothold.
I think the Sicilians are strategically the most challenging. The Aragonese have a gay color, sorry.
The Hungarians are a real well balanced Faction, but I prefer those eagle banner wearing Sicilians.
Read some history books, the early Sicilian Overlords were of Viking/Norman origin. I like that.![]()
The Sicilians, because they have great potential for being a dominant sea power, plus the great isolated starting positions
Well, I haven't played any of 'em yet (too busy building my Mercian Kingdom) but I will probly play the Sicilians, cos they were pretty damn hard in the early middle ages.
"I request permanent reassignment to the Gallic frontier. Nay, I demand reassignment. Perhaps it is improper to say so, but I refuse to fight against the Greeks or Macedonians any more. Give my command to another, for I cannot, I will not, lead an army into battle against a civilized nation so long as the Gauls survive. I am not the young man I once was, but I swear before Jupiter Optimus Maximus that I shall see a world without Gauls before I take my final breath."

I was a little disappointed that you couldnt play the Novgorod in the expansion, but playing them is as easy as a simple edit in the Early.txt file.
Well Sicilians are nice, because of the historical connections to Normandy and finally the Vikings. They stirred up quite a lot of things back there in the Early Middle Ages, think of the first crusade and the fightings with the Byzantines. BTW, nice book for all to read is from STeven Runciman, the history of the crusades.
In case of doubt, attack.
In Campaign must be Hungarians..(Szekely and Nobles with Moldavia)
In MP people of Novo.
I pick the Sicilians because their starting location allow them quite a lot of possibility (naval&trade or Italians penensula domination or bizantian whaking and more!![]()
All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts.
I modded the game a long time ago to play as the Sicilians. They are one of the strongest factions in the game First, their island status enables them to avoid most conflicts so they don't need a large standing army. They can concentrate on building up their trade empire and buildings. I usually concentrated on naval supremacy in the Med for the 1st 50 years or so. By the dawn of the high period, I'd be ready to build the best units and could invade any place along the coast. Next, seize Portugal and some other multiple trade item provinces. From there you can quickly amass several hundred thousand florins and do build anything you need to conquer the rest of the map.
Yours was not at first a criminal nature. At 10 you stole sugar,at 15 you stole money,at 25 you committed arson. At 30,hardened in crime, you became an editor. Worse yet is in store for you. You will be sent to Congress, then to the penitentiary. But,all will be well. You will be hanged.

Yeah I was very upset that Novgorod wasn't included int he expansion... I mean it sucks that you have to start in the high period if you want to play a Russian side.
I would much rather have been able to play as them instead of the other three.
Yeah thats right CA make ALL factions playable (except the Golden Horde for obvious reasons).
"Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it."
Sicillians are the easiest from the new factions.
I think the Hungarians are easier -> they have new and really good units. The Sicilians ugh... seem to be more difficult, at least IMO.
I would have to say Flanders or Bohemia if you want a real challenge. You can build a great trading empire as Genoa.Download Grells Mod it will change the whole game.![]()

The Aragonese are more of a fraction.
I was disappointed that Novgorod wasn't in the list of factions which I could play.![]()
The Hungarians are helped out by the truly fantastic Szekely. Thes guys are the best hore archers around.Originally Posted by [b
