custom unit flags

in response to a topic i saw recently i decided to post a poll on it, just to see how many people really want it.

It would be nice, but you should have some options on heraldics ... better sugestion I think.

Well for multiplayer it is indispensable.

It would be awesome to select your own bif (within the game's guidelines) and have it as your battle standard on the field. Players joining your games could them have the relevant players heralds automatically downloaded to their machines, before the game starts.

This is already working with other games, where you can even download the map automatically when you join a multiplayer game. Check WW2 RTS for details.

I can just see it now in RTW, magnificent. Imagine all the clans, ronin could have their own banners on the field.

erm but what if when u choose a roman army the all have SPQR on there banners how annoying for you

It's easy:

Option A: Upload flag packs to org and all clan/fan sites
Option B: (not mutually exclusive of option A) when you launch the game the machines exchange/dl flags from each other. Alternatively the host machine has the flags and sends them to the players machines.

KY the banner/option idea is not novel. The first time this was discussed was in late 2002, in a Tavern thread on the game from Maddox called WW2 RTS.

Yes custom flag will be very good, esp if you can creat your own and use them.

Not that it alters my vote, but I thought it was refering to the unique unit flags seen in Shogun.

I want them back.

I quite frequently located & checked up on units in Shogun by their unique unit flags.

I was distinctly miffed by the lack of unique flags in MTW.

But customisable ones would be cool too...
