a very stupid question

I'm sure this is a very stupid question but I can't figure out the answer. Last night I played my first three MP games, don't worry I already posted apologies to el fary, gawain, daman and others , and had a really great time. for the life of me, however, I couldn't figure out how to talk to the other players although I saw that they could. I know this is a dumb question but help

Hit the 'T' key to talk to everyone in the game, and the 'Y' key to communicate solely with your allies.
