Did a forum search but couldnt find anything on this. Before attempting moding the VI map I would like to know how (if?) this can be done. I vaguely remember the Sahara (ID_AFRICA) being made accessable in the main campaign, but Francland requires more work... Anyone had any luck

    Have not looked myself yet.

Is francland listed in the startpos?
    Sir Robin the Not-quite-so-brave-as-Sir-Lancelot,
who had nearly fought the Dragon of Agnor,
who had nearly stood up to the vicious Chicken of Bristol,
and who had personally wet himself at the Battle of Badon Hill.

Sorry but Francland can't be activated, unlike "africa" which was simply a removed landmass, Francland is simply drawn onto the map and so can't be activated.

With a bit of work it could be done... you'd have to edit the lukupmap2.lbm file with a paint program. I've thought of doing it myself, but I was thinking that perhaps it should be more than one province... what do you think?

I would go for more than one province.

Yeah more than 1, it appears to be the coast of Flanders, but I think Normandy is what everyone wants, There is also a funny small bit of land poking out to the West after the Flemish coast goes off screen.

Split Francland into three provinces perhaps? They would still get pretty large compared to the British provinces, but perhaps splitting it up more is just not necessary.

So, what provinces should these be and where should their borders go etc?

It is not a simple as just editing in a paint program . there is alot of specific issues to deal with when trying to edit any Lukmap or campaign map in MTW you might want to check out the pinned threads here in the Dungeon on those subjects it will give you a good idea of what others have tried and were able to do or not do in some cases. Well, it's pretty simple once you know how do to it. What I did was I painted new provinces in Ultimate Paint found in the downloads on this site, then saving it as .gif with palette. Saving it as .lbm would mess up the palette completely, which is bad.
Then, using Imageconverter also found in downloads, I just converted it back from gif to lbm. That's pretty much it.

Then, of course, comes the editing of the startpos file, adding settings of all new regions and such, which is much more time consuming than the painting part.

Do you mean you've created new provinces Stavka? If so, which ones?

Yes, I created new provinces in the europe map. I've just split a few large provinces into two smaller ones.

For example, I gave Denmark Skåne (The southern part of Sweden, which they historically had) and also split the Denmark province into two, resulting in a three province Danish faction who now actually can perform pretty well (never seen AI Denmark do ANYTHING with the original one province).

Added 8 new provinces which brings the total to 107, which seems to be the limit. Added new sea zones as well.

I would like to see some screenshots of the Campmap with your new provinces and sea zones. How about it?

Grell: Yes, but keep in mind that my work is not very professional at all, it's more of a test. But I'll be happy to send it to you so you can have a look at it. Should I send the lukupmap to you by mail? If so, PM me your address.

LOS: I'd need somewhere to upload the screenshots to, if you or someone could help me out I'd appreciate it.

Stavka did you use the LMM4 editor? I had a go at it put couldnt get anything working.

I am working on a mod now which has Sweden, Danes and Norway as major factions - so this extra land would greatly improve gamepley for these factions.

my email is thomas_norrish@hotmail.com.au (lumaps might be too big for email but worth a try

    Thanks

No, I just used Ultimate Paint and ImageConverter found in the downloads section. What I did was I just edited the existing map a little, LMM4 is for making completely new maps...?

I'm trying right now to send you the files, though Hotmail is kind of slow at the moment (server too busy). I'll try again in a few hours.

Stavka, so you added land to very large terriorties? Is it more historical correct your way or did u just cut lands in half. I'm looking for more historical correct maps for eitehr periods and factions starting points and oh ya, more factions instead of rebels in the begining. cival wars get rebels ya but thats it u know? screenshots would be great, somebody help him get them up
