I just made my first mod this week to MTW. I played with a few unit stats in the regular TXT file to see if it would work, and it did: I made my Almo's ghulam bodyguards into an uber-unit just to see if it would work, and I smashed the Spanish king's 21 royal knights and lost only 3 myself. So, I would say that is a yes.

However, I would like to do a little more serious modding to the files, including projectiles. However, for the life of me, I could not find "projectilestats.txt" as mentioned above in one of the FAQs. I did a search on the whole Total War subdirectory on my Windows XP, and it returned over 2,000 text files – but no Projectilestats.txt.

    Am I missing something obvious?

    Thanks for your patience.

You must have the file or the game won't run at all.

It should be in your root MTW folder along with the .EXE, just check there. Arrange the folder by name to find easier... if it isn't already.

Are you using the Gnome editor? Since I first used it I'd highly recommend anyone else use it. You can download it on the Org's downloads section. Makes changing the files a lot lot lot more easier... and presented in a much easier manner to understand.
