Fyrdmen have a very slightly higher attach bonus (1). But Armered spearmen have a much better defence/armor bonus and so are much better against missle fire and Cavalry.

It also depends on what units they face. Any unit with armour piercing will do better agasint the armoured spearmen than the FS's

that isnt quite true, AP halves the ammount of Armour, so that also affects Fuedal sergeants, youll find that an AP unit merely evens them both out, Armoured spears still have more def and armour, while fuedal sergs still have slighly better attack and morale
