    Konnichiwa,

Not sure whether it was the first, but that clan was around before the original STW was released. I recall that members of that clan visited the CA offices and presented an engraved sword.

    Towashima.

Clan Kenchikuka is the oldest clan among the ones that still are active, but I dont know if there were older clans than them that arent active right now. Found April 1999 it says.

FF is in an odd position on that.... though it is a quite an old clan, it never played stw, and only recently expanded into mtw, which makes it a new clan from the TW community pov.

Well though being old is an interesting statistic. It means little else to me. In my pov it's what the association is, what it represents that counts most.

Not poking fun or demeaning anyone here.

the founder of Clan Kenchikuka was registered as the 27th online player so in theory there were upto 26 clans registered before us, however sadly none of them are around any longer as far as i know

I remember in the early days a bunch called the Chaos Clan, really saw themselves as something special, in the chat rooms there was always a laugh to be had at their disscussions (taking p***), I'm sure they were in league with Magyer Khan, hooo hisss.

    Ah those were the days............

I just happened upon this website with a list of clans from the old days.

    http://www.geocities.com/kan5uke/shogun_clan_links.htm

A couple of the links still work, and the websites are interesting.

LOL, I did some furthur searching and found the definitive answer at...totalwar.org

    http://www.totalwar.org/site/information.shtml

Dan says: "Soon a community began to build, and we had Clan Gin start up, which didn't survive until the game release, and Clan Towashima, which did."
