Thread: Wes' Mod
Joejoe84 04:57 07-01-2003
Hello again, I've been reading the boards and I have repeatedly seen a mod for the game (Wes's Mod). What is the big deal of this Mod, does it just improve AI and allow you to play other factions or does it change the game in any great way. Also if i do mod MTW would I be able to switch from the original program to the mod options? Thank you in advance for your replies.

JoeJoe,i too have heard good things about the mod but haven`t yet used it.

I always keep a fresh copy of MTW on my hd,i believe its the wise thing to do when modding.I assume you know how to do this.

Well, there really isn't much point in me explaining the explained, so I'll leave it to WesW in his own words. Just have a trawl through the readmes on his site.

The overall effect of WesW's mod, however, is to smooth out some of the rough grains left in MTW. The starting maps are tinkered with such that the AI should be more challenging, the provinces are more unique and it's worth going after specific ones rather than just conquering at random, several units which don't fit into the rosters properly are changed - Kerns into spearmen/javs for instance, or the sorting out of the silly number of Turkish options for offensive archer/infantry. A few bugs are levelled out and various other improvements go in. It just refreshed the game for me and that's why so far it's my favourite mod by quite some way.

Be sure to check the Dungeon for more info on the mod and hopefully to make suggestions to WesW as to how he can improve it.

EEUURAAH.

The reason people like the wesmod so much is because it makes the game much harder and more challeging.
the AI makes much better units now and it uses the potential of trade.

also the buildings, units and provinces you start with are changed, most of the times.
