    Hello all,

I have a problem with a crusade. I paid for a crusade and now nothing happens...... The cross won't leave Switzerland and that is it. While at the same time I am fighting the Almohads everywhere. What could be the problem?

    Greetings,
    Maurits.
Life is too short to make discussion. So I am always right!

well the problem might be that your province has no zeal or you need to drop it in a different space on the province, it probly wont work if you put it on an enemy unit or something.

Maurits, have you set the target of the crusade? After buying the crusade, you must set the target and pay the Pope to bless it. I believe at this point you have the choice of manually moving the crusade or having it automatically move on its own, but I forget how you do this. It has been a while since I've done a crusade.

After you've built the crusade marker, you need to select a target for it by dropping it into an enemy province. Eligible targets are:

    - Provinces controlled by non-catholic Factions

    - Provinces controlled by the rebels, if the percentage of catholics in the province is less than 50%

    - Provinces controlled by excommunicated catholic factions

Eligible target provinces are highlighted when you pick up the crusade marker. The province of origin is also highlighted. Once you've decided on a target, drag and drop the crusade marker into the province you wish to conquer. Your advisor informs you of the cost of activating the crusade. Once active, you can move the crusade towards the target province by yourself, moving it one province at a time. When moving, the crusade must end its move closer to the target province than at the start of the turn. Alternatively, once active, you can drop the crusade marker directly onto its target province, in which case it will move towards its destination automatically if it is unable to traverse the distance in a single move.

One final piece of advice: make sure that your crusade and any troops you move into the objective province with it are sufficient to defeat any and all defenders. Failed crusades are nasty.

    Edit: spellcheck

So what happens if a crusade fails or for that matter a failed jihad.

Your king loses a lot of influence and subsequently the loyalty of many generals and you may find yourself embroiled in a civil war without warning.
