Novgorod land of the cowards

I am still playing my game as the Kingdom of Aragon and I am getting quite irritated.

In this game the Russians have dominated. Eastern Europe, Central Europe, Middle East, and Africa. I am firmly in control of the Iberian Penninsula along with a few other territories mixed in as colonies.

Well 1230 came along and yep the Mongol horde of over 16,000 soldiers arrived right in the Novgorods back door.

What do the Russians do? Nothing at all. Few armies if any get transfered back to fight the Mongols and instead the Russians launch a massive assault to conquer Western Europe.

So now the Mongols control Eastern Europe and are pushing into Central Europe and the Middle East very quickly. I finally got irritated with the Russians and I have started to crush their navy and move forward to crush their armies. Since their armies have little or no heavy cavalry and at best +1 or +2 armor I doubt he will last long against my +4 weapon, +4 armor chivalric knights.

It is just annoying that the Russians are doing nothing to staunch the massive assault on their core territory, they have the armies to do it.

Anyone else see the AI be this stupid?

The Russians can try. 3 years before the Mongols came into the game I was told I held the largest army in the game.

Considering that no one has the tech level I possess it would be a very short war.

True but you have to be careful, even if you do have superior naumbers and superior tech, that does not always result in victory... and those sudden rebellions and re-emergences seem to interrupt the flow of your day

The AI may be looking at the money it is lossing in those steppies provinces outways what it will again in those tasty Western European provinces; Ill de France and Flanders are most toothsome I recall. Anyway the AI is very friendly I've noticed and will tend to conquer in your' direction.

Did see the Byzantines AI crush the Golden Horde AI by out manuvering it one game. Did all the player tricks of doing soak off attacks to pin Horde troops down in other areas so it could bring overwealming force in other. So the AI can be quite variable.

I know. My main goal right now is to sweep him from the seas and then push him out of Western Europe.

What really annoyed me is how the Russians eliminated 4 different factions in the 10 years before the GH arrived. Up to that point only 2 factions had been eliminated.

this has to do with ai or just the game but does anyone else notice u can have the largest income at -1 and under and the enemy still builds units and stuff whats up with that....i also find the russians annoying when i play as mongols (all 20) i know what u mean.oh and another thing when a faction becomes well numbered and they start taking over why does it seem there numbers multiply as they fight usually win or lose u lose units not gain

I belive the A.I considers who has the largest income before support costs
