So Im the French in my second campaign...(english rocked the world in the first one after spain fell) and I decided to play GA. However the French have lots of crusade goals. So I launched a crusade in a 73% zeal province which was the best I had (IL de France) and all I got was a unit of knights templar and 100 order foot, oh plus a fanatics group (which arent very good it turns out...)
So my question is this: Is it possible to get more special crusader units than just two (or three in rare cases like this one, the other two I launched just had order foot or templar but not both) and if so how (the year is 1161)???
These crusades have all failed, floundering in Rum, Trezibond and Syria respectively (flamin turks...) all trying to reach Tripoli to build the Krek de Chevalliers.
I would send them by sea, but the friggin italians are at war with me...and of coures they have tons o ships.
So as a prepare to launch my next headbut toward a brick wall i would appreciate some helpful advice (or at least a helmet )

Without any modding, you will usually get 4 order units at most. I've never had more than 4. There are 2 order unit classes: Peasantry (Fanatics) and Knight. Order Foot falls somewhere between (but I think they are considered as Peasantry). The number of Peasantry unit will depend on zeal level of the province. The number of Knight unit will depend on the piety (or influence, I forgot which one) of the King.

Also, the units will get all of the upgrades available in the province where the Crusade is launched.

As I experienced, even under the best condition (very high zeal, high piety/influence King), the total cost of all units in the Crusade will never come close to 2000 florins (usually ~1500 florins max) and rarely (or never) go over 4 units. With a simple mod, I could reduce the unit cost to about 25% of the original cost and spawn a full army of order units.

its actually very simple, all you need to do is download Gnome's editor from here, and in the main total war directory, use it to open crusaderunitprod.txt. one of the first columns is unit cost, find the unit you want and change the cost
