where do you get the multiplayer patch??? and if its supposed to appear on the game menu it isnt there on mine.....and yes i have the 1.12 patch installed...........

Make sure you downloaded the right patch.
If for Shogun: Total War, get 1.12, but it is nonsense, since noone plays it anymore.
If for Mongol Invasion, get 1.02, install it, and "1.02" should appear at the top left of your main menu screen.
