when you are trading with other counties, to get the money from traded goods, do you have to take the ship to the country then back to a friendly province, or can you just leave it and let it collect money becaues none of my ships are trading, and I checked all the little things like both countries having a port and trading post no enemys are around. thats all I know of.

take it back to port lol sorry OCS but that is so RTS style

no you have to have a chainof ships linking the province with one of your own so to trade between wessex and normandy you just need a ship in the channel. to trade from wales to normandy you need ships in the channel and in the irish sea.
at least 1 ship in every sea region between the province.
the sea regions must also be unblocked if there is an enemy ship in 1 of the connecting sea regions the trade route is blockaded so no trade takes place you aslso have to have a port and a merchant in your province.

If you want to trade effectively, you have to have secured trade links, moreover the provinces you want to trade with have to have ports and merchants built (as well as your provinces). It is also important to have more ships than other factions in certain sea provinces.

I hope that will help you a bit.

I didnt think that you had to bring the ship back, but in the economy screen under profit section no seas are making any money, is it that they are making money only i just cant see it or is there some small thing i missed? oh well i'll try to look around and see what i missed, oh and what in the world is RTS?

it is not the seas or the ports that are making the money. its the trading posts and their upgrades) that are making money. remeber that you need a chain of ships connecting a province with port-post with another neutral/allied faction's province with a port. then, the trade can start and you don't need to worry about it anymore.

i think that RTS means real-time strategy, games like starcraft, warcraft III, AOM (Age of Mythology), etc. etc.

Checking trade income is not intuitive. You won't see the income under the seas list, only the expenses. Hold the cursor over a provence and you'll see the farming, mining and trade income. Double click and you'll see a breakdown of where that trade income comes from and what the provence is trading. Hope this clears it up for you.
It's a good thing that war is so horrible or we would grow to love it too much.
