    hi

ok, to keep things simple, i am going to play my friend over LAN/internet and wondering if it possible for me to mod mine (and his) game so that i can use the Viking units from VI in the selection of my army for the Danes in the early period on multiplayer.

(is it just me or is the fact u can already do it silly because u can get them in the single player)

i have looked in the mooding forum but couldn't find anything. i have done some slight modding before so a quick explanation of what files neeed to be done and where should see me fixed.

    thanks for any help

I'm not an expert in modding, but I think it can be done. Since you stated that you have done some modding, so you already had the Gnome Editor. With Gnome Editor, you want to change the last column in the crusader_unit_prod11.txt file. The first entry in this column YES/NO (or just blank) only used to determine whether the unit available as Merc or not. The rest of the entries are for MP and custom battle. For the units you want to change, just specify the period and the factions that can select the units.

    Ex: for VikingRaiderCavalry

NO EARLY NO_FACTION change it to NO EARLY FN_DANISH

In order to play MP, all players must have the same mod.

as stated, but it is essential both players have EXACTLY the same mod. its posible to get the mod to work with an almost random number of spaces in that column. but both players need the same number of spaces as well
sorry if that seems obvious to you.
