Which true colours would they be?
Are you saying because he's a muslim, this is what you must expect?
Does this mean that when a catholic priest has interfered with children, this is also true colours shining through?
I'm a little concerned. lumping muslims together with terrorists is a little like saying the IRA were a catholic terrorist organisation, therefore all catholics are IRA supporters.
It's a syllogism.

in the original post the subtitle was 'true colours shining through'.Originally Posted by [b
As far as I am concerned, that is a pretty dubious thing to be saying. In essence - this guy is a muslim, and we all know muslims are untrustworthy...
That's what I meant. tarring with the same brush is wrong.
Daveinkorea has no idea whether the guy is guilty, or even what he is guilty of, and he's calling for him to be shot.
A fully comprehensive display of why America is the pariah that it is. Nice lineup yellow and red cards there too Dave, you're obviously a great, all American guy.
Geez See what we're up against in the U.S. Muslim cleric questioned = he must be guilty = shoot him. Remember, the rule of law is just an annoying technicality for a lot of Republicans.
Making new friends now huh dave?
Legacy for the airwaves.
Where in the original post did I say anything that suggested that, because he is muslim, his true colors shined through? I said his true colors shined through. LOL,![]()
Guess you guys should look in the mirror when you are labeling me.

I can't view it, dave
Dave.
sorry, mate.
no gotcha taken.
I take your point, which is why I asked you what these 'true colours' were?
If there is another way to read, I'd like to hear it. I don't like misinterpreting things.
The only other information I could glean about him was that he was raised in Springfield, that he's an American man, and that he's in the military. So unless you are saying American men, Springfielders and military men are somehow innately treacherous, I'm a little at a loose end.
Dave, if I'm missing something, do tell...
katar,
I didn't take offence. I just thought you might not get it.

Sorry, I would have posted sooner but I'm on flood control. The reason why I posted this thread the way I did was to prove a point. This is the guy's true colors. Not because he was muslim, but because he is a traitor. Not in one word in my thread did I suggest becasue he was muslim he did this. Then you went off and said Does this mean that when a catholic priest has interfered with children, this is also true colours shining through? So, it basically shows that you have a bias against Catholics. So you have assited in my point. You have to write out a god damn book in eaxh post to make any point without it getting attacked. Thats why I write little quick posts to see people's true colors. So please, feel free to show some more insight.Originally Posted by [b

Actually, the guy isn't a traitor yet. He is only a traitor when is convicted via due process under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Also, so far no one has proved that he actually intended to give the documents that were found on him to the enemy. In order for him to be a traitor he has to give aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States, simply possesing documents does not satisfay that language. At this point the only thing that we know he has done is mishandled confidential information, which could only result in a black mark on his service record, loss of grade, or it could be much more serious. It all depends on his intent and what the JAG can prove about his connections, if any, to the enemy.

Looking at the title, is he even with the enemy? Because surely if they are the enemy they should be prisoners of war...![]()

But that's by the by. in your original post, you say this story is 'not exactly surprising'. you don't find that in combination with 'true colours' even the tiniest bit suggestive?
I'm sorry, but at present your cleverer-than-thou elliptic arguing has me convinced of nothing.
I agree, at no point did you state blah-blah-blah... but if your point is to prove that various posters can infer meaning, then point proved. anything beyond that I'm afraid you are reaching.
my thoughts. you can mock them as insights all you like - and no doubt will.
1. The story itself. The word 'cleric' is in your link. Explicit mention of religion. It doesn't take much to link that to...
2. 'True colours' - your justification of the use of this phrase is odd to me. true colours suggests something innate, that sets him apart from the 'norm'. True colours as a traitor is not a usage I would understand without a 'reason' behind it.
3. 'Not exactly surprising' - Why? It suggests with the information given to us. ie military man, springfield, american, muslim, we should have been able to work this out beforehand.
There is a serious issue here that directly touches on matters of faith. Within hardcore Sunni doctrine, a muslim may defraud, lie to, or do any conceivable harm to non-believers, and may effectively treat dhimmi as he sees fit.
The U.S. is not at war with the very existence of Muslim culture. However, the hardcore Sunni and Shiite factions that want to see worldwide Sharia, *do* in fact see themselves as waging a no-holds-barred war against our entire civilisation. There is therefore a serious, legitimate, and *extremely uncomfortable* question that has to be asked when dealing with any Muslim: if they are devout, can they be trusted? And you can bet your bottom dollar that the soldiers of Sharia use this tension extensively in their propaganda.

Laugh it up, then. real clever.
what a waste of space. We all know that. We all know this by the time we are 10. I accidentally credited you with having a point.
But i'm afraid you still revealed more than you intended...
I did a little analysis that I notice you ignored totally. Care to comment on your unpleasant inferences?
Or are you content merely to play silly little games of one-upmanship?
My last post, if you are doing what I suspect you are doing. That rather depends on what you respond to.

Hey, I'm not the one making generalizations. You guys have obviously have preconceived notions about Muslim, Catholics, and probably Americans. I'm doing you guys a favor. I'm showing you some of the pleasantness you will probably face in the Tavern. I wanted to see how the more enlightened euro crowd have the same bias and prejudice that dumb ignorant Americans such as myself have. So there you go, you proved my point. Don't be a hypocrit, you're the ones that went nuts when I posted a article about a man who has apparently become a traitor, nothing more. Not a muslim traitor. But it was you enlightened folks that brought that into the equation with your own bigotry. It was fun playing with you. Have a laugh at it, this is the same shit that happens to me all the time. A little play on words, a few why and what if questions, and presto...![]()
