the term mancount, if unclear, mean that you count the number of guys in a battle and you get a max. number of fighters instead of just having slots where one unit fits into each?

Mancount, it's not reasonable that a catapult takes up the same space as a hundred spearmen...
I dislike both. There shouldn`t be a max number of troops you can bring to battle. But in Rome you can have more than one army anyway.
well i have 3 units of 200 peasants, 3 units of 20 royal knights, and 4 units of 80 fedule foot knights, and 2 units of 120 longbow men, that total = 1226 men![]()
No poor bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making other bastards dying for their country.
The draft is white people sending black people to fight yellow people to protect the country they stole from red people.
why would anybody want to touch a girl's butt? Bart Sim
there has to be a limit, otherwise the gameplayexperience would be lessened, the game wouldnt be as tactical because too much power would be needed for great numbers.

thats exactly my point, you dont get very fair fights, its muhc more fun to win by superior tactics than to win by superior numbers... at least i think so

I have posted a topic similar to this a while ago and after getting quite few replies I feel that you should get a little bit of an edge in battle by taking a few units away from the numerically inferrior by a few such as one gets 20 units on the field and the other only gets 18. Basiclly even if outnumbered 20 to 1 you should not get too much of an edge where the one only gets 1 unit to face the other 20 and have to constantly pour in 1 unit at a tim to go to there slaughter. and maybe the max should be about 20 units against 15

Mancount for sure. My reason is that the AI will often bring in all its siege units in the initial huge army, so I route their early force and have way too easy a time against the ensuing reinforcements. Mancount would make battles a lot tougher, especially with Medmod 3.11 where the AI builds massive amounts of men to count![]()
Every man dies, not every man really lives.
and its also hugely iriitating when you got guys on the run (not that it happends that often) and you cant call in reinforcements cuz you got 16 damn men on the run and they take up all the slots

Cortez theory is as follows:
Artillery, hashishin, naphta throwers, and the like are special troops. They take two (or more) years to produce. In the Cortez Play Book, they are not in the same category as archers, footmen or cavalry.
There should be some number, perhaps two or four slots, for these special troop types.
The current arrangement favors greatly the player over the AI, who will take four useless artillery on an attack, when. Cortez does take advantage of this, but does not like it. He feels it is cheating, and tries to destroy the artillery asap so he can face the entire army.
When Cortez plays a Muslim faction, he keeps one naptha and one hashinin with each general, it would be great to have special slots for these, but not required. Artillery should have special slots.
As far as the debate between 20 unit and 40 or 60 man units, the infinite wisdom our creators gave you a solution... if one doesn't feel the unit is balanced, one may change the unit size Mod away

I mancount out of habit from other games, but it doesn't really matters imo. Last night 600- mongols almost routed my 1200+ Dane/Nov. army in Ryazan. Quality and tactics. That's what counts to me.
