Slider, can you provide to us the following to help diagnose the problem:
1) what game is doing this and is it patched?
2) a little information about your PC: CPU (speed & RAM), operating system, graphics card (& drivers if known), sound card, harddrive free space, etc.?

hi everyone,
this sounds exactly like the problems i've had since installing the patch for VI... a beep at startup, then the screen freezing at the main menu (i can see the windows mouse pointer moving about, but the total war arrowhead pointer is stuck). even ctrl/alt/del doesn't work when it's in this state and i have to power off
i'm running a nvidia geforce (200x or something), XP, athlon 1.3ghz, 512mb, yamaha dsp factory soundcard
the problem only happens the second and subsequent times i play after a fresh install and patching... if i go back to v2.0 the problem disappears again (along with my social life)

A big hello to you BigDave.Thanks for dropping by and sharing your experience with the patch. There seems to be more of these kinds of situations with the patch.
I've downloaded it but not installed it yet. I may wait a bit before installing.
