Adding more provinces

Has anyone achieved this with normal MTW map?

I added a few provinces to the standard campaign map, using Ultimate Paint (found in downloads) for editing the .lbm-file. Then using unused colours from the palette just paint new provinces. Then saving it as a .gif (w/ palette) and converting it back to .lbm with lbm-converter (or some similiar name, I found it in the downloads section). Not saving it as .gif scews up the palette completely and thus it won't work.

AFAIK the maximum amount you can add is 8 provinces (9 if you free up sahara and use it somewhere else), and 4 sea regions, so it's kind of limited.
