Graphics card conflicts

I have just installedan ATI Radeon 7000 ve graphics card and now I cant play stw. I get a black screen and the error message this machine has performed an illegal operation.
Any ideas?

Read the apothecary forum if you haven't already done so, the answer may well be in there or try PMing the mods in there?

Cannot help except tell you that the ATI radeon cards are no where near as good as the manufacturer claims.
A reliable source has informed me that most games developers do not like the ATI drivers

You may need to reinstall the game but wait for a few more replies.

Im having major problems running the game too.

Download the latest driver for the card here:
http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html

If this does not work, reinstall the card. If it still won't communicate with the rest of the world, contact the store from where you bought the card.

Maye sure you uninstall the old card first Otherwise you will get no end of problems (not just with ATi cards).

did you happen to have an nvidia card in there before? this has caused problems on some machines, going from nvidia to ati. it seems that nvidia cards tend to leave a bit of garbage behind when removed that interferes with ati cards. check the apothecary for more info.

other than that...drivers, drivers, drivers the black screen is a driver issue. very common, very easy to fix with the proper drivers, as long as there isnt any leftover nvidia crap hanging around.

Actually, my Radeon 9700 may be one of the prime reasons that I am apparently one of the only people in the known universe to get STW working properly on an xp box.

PS- They have had driver issues in the past.
