This has probably been asked before but... why did they change the way Nagis were seen on the Battlefield in WE? Now they just look like spearmen. I thought that the original version was better...

Simply put, the answer is NO.

However, I don't see anything wrong of Naginatas looking like Spearmen. After all, both naginata and yari are pole weapons.

It's more of an aestethical change...
This nagi looks like a constipated person.

I like the old nag.
With the bif reader now can we change the new nag pic to the old one?

The old nagi looked like an independent Unit now it looks like a cheap spearman is there ANY way to change it??? Im sure there probably is heh

I believe the reason they were changed was to free up graphic space for the new units.

I think LongJohn is right on this one. Afterall there is nothing wrong with this nagi. He still fights just as good. If you use them!

The symbols and also the pics of the units used on the 'cards' during a battle are all in one file: Fog.lbm (stw/textures/men).

That pic is 256*256 pixels. The new units needed some place, so the old ones had to make room. The picture of the old naginata is slightly wider than the new one. The old naginata holds his weapon horizontal, shifting this to vertical would already add the extra space for the korean skirmisher.

Tools to change this picture and the BIF file in the armyselection panal, are available for download in the files/tools section. Not all files need to be edited, as the old naginata BIF file is present in MI/WE (a simple copy and rename is all that's needed).

Yes, I too feel that the naginatas on the battlefield looked better in the original STW.
