Sorry, I'm a newbie...how do you get your emissaries to propose alliances? All mine ever seem to do is spy.

    Thanks!

    1. Make sure your Emissary is in the same province as the Daimyo -- *after* that Daimyo's move, if memory serves. This can be non-trivial since Daimyos are the sort of guy that likes to run around, never in one place, roam from town to town...

    2. Click-and-drag your Emissary onto the Daimyo's unit (specifically, the base of the Daimyo's unit, as always).

    3. Hope your Emissary wasn't used as target practice for a Ninja, and that the Daimyo's in a good mood.

Armies commanded by Daimyos are represented by a mounted samurai, not one on foot. If he's in a castle, the emblem will be a 5-pointed star IIRC.

You really don't have to be in the same province as the Daimyo. Like any strategic unit you can "drop" your guy on any daimyo you can see. Your guy will then follow after the daimyo until he catches up

BTW, you know you've succeeded in offerring an alliance when the "offer alliance-yes/no?"
window pops up (in case you didn't know ).
