    Question

Playing as the English I like to divide my forces into offensive, and defensive armies. Right know I'll post about my defensive armies.

To defeat France my armies were composed primarily of mercenary units. This was very costly so I decided my first priority would be to secure my borders with homegrown troops. I had six borders to secure Aquitane, Toulouse, Anjou, Ill de France, Champaigne, and Flanders.

Each of my defensive armies, consisted of 5 Units of Spearmen, 3 Units of missle troops, 2 Meele troops, and 2 cavalry units.

The first Armies I built consisted of
    5- Feudal Sargeants
    3- Archers
    2- FMAA
    2- Hobilars

    My newer Armies have
    5- Billmen
    3- Longbowman
    2- CMAA
    2- Mounted Seargents

I am in the process of modernizing my older armies(Toulousse, and Aquitane.) Most of my newer units have recieved upgrades from a Armourors workshop, and some of these armies also have royals attached to them.

It took me 42 years to fully secure my borders, It may have taken less time with mercenaries, but mercenaries cost alot of money, and besides you don't feel the same attachment for mercenaries you just recently bought compared to the armies who have served with unswerving loyalty for years.

I'm sure this will start a whole new 'favorite army' thread, but here are some from the recent (and not so recent) past:

    fave dream army
    dream army combo
    Army makeup - what's best
Obsequious and arrogant, clandestine and vain
Two thousand years of misery, of torture in my name
Hypocrisy made paramount, paranoia the law
My name is called religion, sadistic, sacred whore
