Maybe it is available later but I couldn´t find it in the custom battles as well.... I would LOVE to see the imperial guard, they were the absolute elite of napoleon, that finally routed for the first time at the battle of waterloo. Nobody has ever beaten them before then, just the knowledge that they were there was enough to make a serious impact on the moral of any army. ´if you see them you are dead´ was the talk amongst the soldiers

    Thanks for the question.
Maybe a misunderstanding here, but the Imperial Guard is already in.

The Imperial Guard was made up of all arms and fielded many different units. The unit you refer to is the Old Guard Grenadiers, the are in the mod as Grenadiers. Other units from the Imperial Guard are also in such as, the Chasseurs a Cheval, Grenadiers a Cheval and the Young Guard.

The Imperial Guard was an elite corps of Napoleons army and his bodyguard, an army in its own right, similar to Hitlers Waffen SS, Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Lord De Moray

As Lord De Mpray points out, the Imperial Guard was indeed Napoleons Corp D'Elite, being composed of three major infantry divisions: the Young Guard, Middle Guard and Old Guard. They also had elite light troops named Tirralieurs, as well as there own cavalry and artillery divisions. As you should notice, we already have the Young Guard and Grenadiers (Old guard) in, as well as Cavalry Divisions. Middle guard are to be added later. Remember, as the Wars raged on, the size and quality of the Imperial guard changed alot. Its size ballopned while the quality of its troops declined.

If Waterloo was their first battle what did they do? I thought that they were more of a fighting unit than that.

They weren't first used at Waterloo. They were first used in the Italian Campaign of 1800

Yes, Imperial Guardsmans bravely fought in all campaign 1812-1814 (especially in melee), but at Waterloo they shocked by fire power Wellington's regiments. Before this battle they never clashed with British and weren't know about their skill in firearms. Bayonet was defeat by bullet .

Got that right Adi. Waterloo just gave them a bad name because they were so famous and feared by all and sundry that when they turned and ran it was enough to break the morale of Napoleon's army. They were formed from Napoleon's private 'Consular Guard' and counted among their veterans the men of the Armee de Italie, the Egyptian Campaign (there was a escadron of Mamluks), the wars in Europe and Russia. It was very rare for the Guard to be committed as they were the ultimate strategic reserve and the ultimate insurance policy. One of the rare times that the guard was 'defeated' was when their Marine battalion was forced to surrender with the rest of Dupont's army at Bailen in 1808. There are a number of great articles on the Guard in the NapoleonSeries files. About the Waterloo campaign, the Guard was Napoleon's personal bodyguard on Elba and fought at Ligny. The French army ran from the field but the OLD GUARD under General Cambronne fought on in a square, refusing all offers of surrender with the pithy famous epithet Merde
