Thread: Cavalry used ineffectively

xI've noticed that many players online really don't know what's up with cavalry. Being the fastest units in the game, most people should realize they are extremely usefull for exploiting gaps in enemy lines, swinging around from behind, and flanking.

Most of the time I see a player send his cavalry after archers or guns, then retreat them back, or just have them for reserves. Then they wonder how my cav got behind there line turning their army into a samarai sandwhich.
    - A conclusion is simply the place where someone got tired of thinking.
    - The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.

If someone good is fighting you then he has reserves thus he will block that cavalry most of the times. Most l know use cav as a way to kill or rout guns to win the gun fight. Also many use them as an assult unit to capture areas where you want the battle to take place. I use cav now for the pesky CA and kill guns if the other guy is careless.

Cavs have speed. Use it. Exploit it.

I prefer the ostrich. Speed is ferosous and they can peck a man to death. Just make sure you dont fight with them on sand. They have a tendency to stick their head sumwhere.

GAH! Sounds like you chaps have never tried bicycle-jousting. Everybody knows that heavy bike "cavalry" will win the day anytime.

GAH! I can already hear that crone calling out "Flores para los muertos!"

    Vanya,

The Swiss Army (yes the one with the knives), actually has about 500 guys on heavy bikes. They are called the "Velo-Rambos". Sounds frightening doesn't it? brrrrrbrrrrbrr!!
It's true really, but don't ask what they are good for (nothing I guess, like the whole Swiss Army).

By heavy bikes what do you mean?

    Are these motorcycles or bicycles?

    I could understand motorcycles...

I think from memory they are metal framed bicycles that are have no gearing. Faster then walking but still you think they could afford gears to help with mountain terrain... after all apart from knives the Swiss are famous for the Clock gears.

Of course having said that my information is at least a decade old so they are probably using 20 gears on a carbon fibre frame (light and bullet proof).

The Swiss Army actually has real bicycles, but as I said heavy ones. Means they are slower than a turtle in first gear. But the "Velo Rambos" will have to work harder to move. In fact if you ask me, these guys are as effective, as a submarine in in Uzbekistan. (The only country besides my own that is doubly landlocked).

Bah, they'd rout when they see their american counterpart:

A Harley Davidson with a 7.62mm chaingun on the front and a dual HELLFIRE launcher on the rear seat.

And if that wasnt enuf, there's the chubby, greasy, leather wearing rider munching on his Happy Meal and reaching for the McSlurpy that's on the cupholder near the ignition key.

    ROFL!

Unfortunately a Hellfire mount is way to big for a Harley. Although, I must admit, some small hydralics and flat panel magazine and you could do the 7.62 minigun off an AH-1.

The hellfire can be loaded onto a Harley cruiser (that big bike). The army nerds have put 10 hellfires and several MG's onto an aluminum combat buggy, so I dont see a problem putting 2 fixed mounted launch struts and 1 of them missiles on top of it. The chaingun in front would act as counterweight.

Anyway, we all know that the real killer is the cupholder and Thy Holy Happy Meal of Antioch.

    Hey,

On my Harley, I have a sidecar on which I have mounted a Mi-24 Hind weapons pod that I bought when the USSR broke up. (You can find anything on the net...). I have been wanting the 7.62 minigun, but getting modern western stuff is much harder...I had to settle for an 12.7mm Russian twin barrel HMG smuggled in from Chechnyia...

But the real weapon is that the sound of my pipes will rupture eardrums at 50 yards!
