Thread: Editing posts

Can I please make a request that posts cannot be edited by anyone apart from moderators/admin.

This is because I have noticed recently a trend for posts to be made, and after someone replies the original message has been edited. This then makes either 1) the thread nonsense or 2) it makes the people who reply look bad because they have been duped into responding and then the message they responded to has changed to make them look silly in the forums.
(not aimed at monstas post by the way
I am taliking about when a deliberate attempt is made to discredit them.
Can we please have a plain flowing thread where every post makes sense because they are in order and not have to scroll back pages to see what on earth is going on.

    Thanks

    Boromir...

    Oh, I didn't notice.

However, I think if the moderators/admin have the right to edit posts, those who wrote the posts are more entitled to.

And don't forget that if for some reason, people decide to modify the original message to make the replies look silly, those who reply can always modify their reply to cancel the effect.

The editing function for the author is primarily used to correct typo, or to avoid double post. Just because there are some isolated cases of people abusing this feature, doesn't mean one should disable it.

No-one makes perfect posts and the editing post tool is an excellent feature. If somoeone made a mistake, a misunderstanding or whatever, he should be able to edit his posts...in fact I used it now

Every feature has its loophole that can be exploited in a negative way, and the editing post tool is one of them, as described by Boro.

But as Gothmog clearly said, that doesn't entitle the particular feature to be removed...

    P.S.
Boro, tell us who made that unfair act and we will verify and take action...

If you use quotes they don't change. Of course you can make artificial quotes to discredit the person who went before you

I use edit to improve my grammer... as you may notice I write on this board most hours of the day and I would hardly claim to be lucid for more then three hours a week...

And to get img and url correct takes me at least as many posts as lord ted.
