Upgrading a units armour

Hi

I have heard (well read) people referring to buying an upgrade for particular general. Are they just referring to building an armourer (or one of its various guises)? Or can you actually BUY upgrades?

Well, I guess buying an upgrade refers to adding armour to a unit that already exists (by dropping it on the training queue in a province that has armour buildings) - just like when you want to retrain a unit.
I'm not sure how much it costs, though.

Are you sure they're talking about the single player campaign game, and not multiplayer or custom battles? In custom/multiplayer battles, you do 'buy' upgrades for individual units.
