Medieval is more complex and rewarding because of the greater variety of factions, cultures and units.

However, Shogun as a certain beauty, feel and imersion that Medieval never achieved. I still consider Shogun a landmark...

    Tough, but not that much:

STW Warlord Edition. MTW VI is not without its charms, tho.

I'll vote Medieval, and not only to be in contrast with everybody else here

I adored Shogun and played it for hours and hours and hours, and as Medieval was announced I went :Why didn't they make S:TW in 3D?

But afterwards, when I got M:TW and began playing, I realised how much more possibilities, units, new concepts et cetera M:TW brought along. So, with *slight* advantage M:TW wins the race in my case...

Wonder if it will be the same with R:TW?

Mechanically, MTW/VI is a much better game. The SP campaign has staying power even after a year and a half. With STW/MI/WE, everyone seemed bored with the SP campaign after about a month or two. SP STW topics on these forums virtually disappeared after that time. Not so with MTW/VI.

For atmosphere and game immersion, STW/MI/WE was the superior game. From the seasons to the various cut-scenes to the throne room to the emmissaries, the game pulled you into its world.

Oh, yes, I miss this part very much Watching your ninja climbing over the wall, trying to assassinate the enemy emissary, accepting negotiators in your throne hall, watching the deadly geisha at work...

    *sigh*

Those were the times... Brought a tear to me aye

But, once again, the M:TW SP is still, after all this time, an enjoyable experience, and thanx to the wisdom of the creators, we can still make it interesting when applying different, mostly very interesting and rather well made mods

For a sp-experience MTW is leagues ahead of STW.

Remember the Hojo Horde? The relatively limited unit-variety? The small map? The uselessness of the mongol campaign? The overpowered geisha? Need I go on.

It says a lot about the series that STW still is one of the best games around. It can't hold a candle to MTW though.
Nope - no sig what so ever.

I guess Medieval. I understoand why people like STW, but I am totally uninterested in the wars of chieftains in Japan. MTW has a more universal coverage; whole Europe.

STW for the atmosphere, MTW for the variety.

Anyway here's my (and i believe every TW fan's) wish for next Xmas....
