The Assault of Toulouse: A Campaign Battle

In the Reign of King William II of England a war raged across France, The English King was looking to expand his domain and looked with envy upon the wealth of the territories belonging to the French Lords...

The war was for the most part going well, however fate took a turn for the worst when the remnants of Sir Tancred of Normandy's once great army was besieged inside a Fort in Toulouse by a larger French Force...

His forces comprised of Forty of his personal Militia, A few Peasant Volunteers and 12 Hobilar Riders.

The French had a handful of archers, Militia of their own, a few Spearmen, a group of Peasant levies, and Two siege engineers manning a Ballista... While their force was still relatively small, it was still much larger than Tancred's survivors, and they pressed on to assault the Fort.

Faced with fighting for his own survival, his couragous men fought back at the enemy and succeeded in not only repelling the assault and routing the enemy army, but also hunted them all down to the last man and lifting the siege

This battle demonstrates the way fortune changes during war
